Empirical therapy for a range of community-acquired, including those in which beta-lactamase-producing strains of common respiratory pathogens are causative organisms.
• Cefuroxime axetil for either 5 or 10 days is associated with significantly fewer gastrointestinal adverse events, particularly diarrhea & nausea, than is 10-days treatment with amoxicillin-clavulanate.
• Cefuroxime axetil is well tolerated and appears to be equally as effective as doxycycline in the treatment of early Lyme disease and in preventing the subsequent development of late Lyme disease.
• Cefuroxime Axetil appears to be as safe & effective as Amoxyvillin+Clavulanic Acid in the treatment of acute sinusitis.
